Public Health Project

What we do

Since the Public Health Project started in 2008, we have continued delivering 10 year vascular risk assessments to the community, as part of FREE NHS health checks, helping reduce the risk of having a stroke, heart attack, diabetes or kidney disease.

The Public Health Project’s NHS checks take approximately 20-30 minutes and consist of the following:

  • Blood pressure measurement (BP), Cholesterol testing (eligibility criteria applies) and Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation.
  • Motivational interviewing, personality advice and individual action planning to maximise positive lifestyle change.
  • Follow up call six months after health check to support lifestyle changes.

(For those ineligible for full health check, we do still offer a health MOT (BP & BMI check) and lifestyle advice. We also develop local pathways and links with other community services for comprehensive support)
